The official trailer for Iwe Ala (The Book of Dreams) has been released, offering audiences a first look at the upcoming Nollywood drama set against the backdrop of one of Nigeria’s most recognised cultural celebrations, Ojude Oba.

Scheduled for a nationwide cinema release on 12 June 2026, the film centres on a prominent tailoring dynasty whose legacy is threatened by family conflict, long-held secrets, and competing interests within the household. Set within the cultural landscape of Ijebu, the story draws on themes of heritage, identity, family loyalty, and tradition.

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, Iwe Ala places the annual Ojude Oba festival at the centre of its visual and cultural setting. The trailer highlights elaborate traditional attire, community celebrations, and the social significance of the event, while weaving these elements into a family drama that unfolds across generations.

The film features an ensemble cast that includes Owobo Ogunde, Mercy Aigbe, Dele Odule, Demola Adedoyin, Tobi Makinde, Eniola Ajao, Aishat Isiaka, and Tolu Otebiyi.

One of the notable additions to the cast is Farooq Oreagba, whose appearance at the 2024 and 2025 Ojude Oba festivals attracted widespread public attention and established him as one of the event’s most recognisable personalities. His involvement in Iwe Ala marks a crossover from cultural figure to screen actor within a story that draws heavily from the traditions and identity associated with the Ijebu people.

The trailer also suggests a film that balances cultural representation with interpersonal conflict, focusing on the tensions that emerge when family legacy, ambition, and personal interests collide.

With its blend of tradition, family drama, and an ensemble cast spanning established actors and cultural figures, Iwe Ala (The Book of Dreams) joins a growing list of Nollywood productions drawing inspiration from indigenous histories and contemporary cultural events.

Iwe Ala (The Book of Dreams) arrives in cinemas nationwide on 12 June 2026.
