What happens when you try to rebuild what was broken long ago and realize time has left scars deeper than silence ever could? That’s the emotional heartbeat of The Lost Days, the stirring directorial debut from Wingonia Ikpi, now streaming on Prime Video as of July 11, 2025.

At the center of the story is Chisom, a wealthy woman in remission from cancer who returns to Abeokuta in hopes of mending ties with the son she abandoned. But her arrival doesn’t bring the peace she imagined. Instead, her return triggers buried pain, tangled emotions, and a sudden disappearance that sends the family spiraling forcing them all to confront truths they’ve kept hidden for years.
The film marks the on-screen debut of Ifeoma Fafunwa, celebrated for her work in theatre and advocacy for social change. Her performance as Chisom is quietly devastating and deeply human. She’s joined by a solid ensemble that includes Bimbo Manuel, Baaj Adebule, Cynthia Clarke, and Durotimi Okutagidi, each bringing nuance to a story woven with emotional complexity.
“I wanted to tell a story about the messiness and grit of forgiveness,” says director Wingonia Ikpi. “Healing isn’t always neat sometimes, it’s jagged and incomplete. The Lost Days lives in that space.”
Written by Abdul TJ and Paul S. Rowlston, and produced by Steve Gukas, Dotun Olakunri, Chioma Ezeani, and Bola Atta, the film is the ninth release under the First Features Project an initiative supporting new Nigerian directors with mentorship and resources to bring bold, original stories to life.
With its layered narrative, restrained performances, and aching realism, The Lost Days isn’t just a film — it’s an invitation to sit with grief, growth, and everything we wish we’d said.
