History is heading to Netflix.
House of Ga’a, a new biographical epic from director Bolanle Austen-Peters, is set to premiere on July 26. The film tells the powerful story of Bashorun Ga’a, the feared kingmaker of the 18th-century Oyo Empire, whose rise was built on cunning, voodoo, and sheer political dominance and whose fall came through a stunning betrayal.
Produced by Bolanle Austen-Peters and Joseph Umoibom, House of Ga’a brings one of Nigeria’s most infamous historical figures to the screen, painting a vivid portrait of power, ambition, and legacy.
The cast is stacked with Nollywood heavyweights, including Femi Branch in the lead role, alongside Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, and more. With rich visuals and a compelling narrative, the film dives deep into the complexities of traditional leadership, spiritual influence, and the price of unchecked authority.
The official trailer is out now and it already hints at an intense, layered story that fuses history with cinematic drama.
House of Ga’a premieres globally on Netflix, July 26.
