Five 2 Media, Nile Entertainment Back Remi X Nneoma

Five 2 Media Entertainment has announced that its upcoming feature Remi X Nneoma will premiere nationwide during Easter 2026, with international screenings to follow.

The project, which reimagines the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi in a contemporary Nigerian setting, has been picked up for worldwide distribution by Nile Entertainment, launched last year by film executive Moses Babatope.

The film tells the story of Nneoma and her daughter-in-law Remi who, after a shared loss, choose to remain together in Ikwerre, Nigeria. Their journey through grief, social pressures and widowhood strengthens their bond, while Remi discovers unexpected love, opening a path to new beginnings.

The production is led by actress and producer Bikiya Graham-Douglas (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Wrath and Revenge), who stars in the film and also serves as producer. The executive producer is Solate Ovundah-Akarolo, whose credits include A Night in 2005 and Extra Mile.

The ensemble cast features Bisola Aiyeola, Liz Benson Ameye, Uche Montana and Ifeanyi Kalu, alongside celebrated figures such as Eucharia Anunobi, Tina Mba, Buchi Franklin and Kunle Coker.

Directed by Lyndsey Efejuku and written by Priye Diri with Adelarin Awotedu, the film incorporates music supervision by Kalinè and places emphasis on themes of resilience, female agency and solidarity.

Speaking on her role, Bisola Aiyeola said: “Remi is every woman who has ever had to start over. Her strength doesn’t shout, it builds quietly and steadily. Playing her was a deeply rewarding experience.”

Producer Bikiya Graham-Douglas added: “This film is a story about transformation. We wanted to tell a story that challenges outdated norms, champions female agency, and reflects the beauty and complexity of real relationships.”

Executive Producer Solate Ovundah-Akarolo noted: “Remi X Nneoma signals a new creative chapter. This project is a testament to how personal journeys, however painful can become universal stories of courage and connection. A film that lingers long after the credits roll.”

With its layered storytelling, acclaimed cast and international distribution, Remi X Nneoma is positioned as one of the most anticipated Nollywood releases of 2026.
