Explosive New Nollywood Action Thriller “Son of the Soil” Set for October Release

The official trailer for Son of the Soil has been unveiled, signalling the arrival of one of Nollywood’s most ambitious action films to date. Produced under the Action Xtreme banner, the thriller is directed and produced by Chee Keong Cheung, with a story developed by British-Nigerian actor Raz Adoti, who also plays the lead role.

The film follows Zion Ladejo, a former Nigerian soldier haunted by his past. When his sister dies unexpectedly, he is compelled to return to Nigeria. Confronted with corruption and danger, he begins a campaign for vengeance while seeking personal redemption.

Son of the Soil is being shot entirely on location in Lagos. The screenplay, written by Adoti, draws on his extensive international experience, which includes appearances in Black Hawk Down, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Gangster No. 1, and Amistad.

The cast features Iretiola Doyle, Sunshine Rosman, Philip Asaya, Damilola Ogunsi, Taye Arimoro, Emeka Golden, Sharon Rotimi, James ‘BlacQ’ Damilare, and veteran actress Patience Ozokwor.

Behind the camera, Wingonia Ikpi of Boxonia Blueprint serves as line producer and casting director. Andreas Roald, Ioanna Karavela, and Adoti himself join Cheung on the producing team. Director of photography Jack Thompson-Roylance leads the technical crew, with distribution handled by The Nile Entertainment.

The production blends Nollywood talent with international expertise, aiming to set a new standard for locally shot action cinema. Son of the Soil will premiere in cinemas nationwide from 31 October 2025.
